A truly open ocean species that grows up to a metre in length. Fiercely bioluminescent, it glows like a red hot strawberry. The bioluminescence is confined to discreet 'organs' or patches. This species is commonly found in mixed shoals or swarms of ctenophores and is often very pink in colour. It predates upon other, smaller, planktonic organisms.
